Witness the Dawn of Logical Progression

Brian debuts Logical Progression, exclusively, on the KILLERWATT.
Logical Progression is a brand new program hosted by Brian Lindgren. He's a fan of early FM radio, and when he pitched his concept to the suits at KILLERWATT, well, we thought we should give him an airshift before the poor kid resorts to podcasting. Imagine: You fired-up your old Scott FM tuner. Tweak the tuning for maximum meter deflection. Now lay down between your JBL L100 speakers, or affix a pair of  Koss Pro-4A headphones for analytical listening, and get with the progression. Click the player and listen.

The Truth Lies on This Isle

Signal Hill islet, as it appeared in 1952 when the walk-bridge was still maintained and foliage dotted the KILLERWATT's transmitter/studio site, a man-made island of landfill located in the widest part of the Gowanus Canal.

NOEL Sails East River for Radio

Noel on East 34th St., waiting on the Signal Hill, Brooklyn ferry.

You can't take the train to KLW's transmitter/studio site on Signal Hill, Brooklyn. We're situated on a man-made island in the widest part of the Gowanus Canal. The entire islet was purpose-built for radio broadcasting, records indicate, some-time between 1918 and 1920. Yes, there's an ancient, creaky little walking bridge connecting our little pile of landfill to greater Brooklyn. But Manhattan based NOEL at the Controls prefers a pleasant mini voyage on the ferry special from East 34th St.. A "special" because it stops at KILLERWATT's pier via special arrangement with the City. We'll explain in the next episode of The Blackout Tapes, KLW's chronicle of the Great Blackout of '77.

Tonight, NOEL at the CONTROLS broadcasts another Peabody Award winning program, because NOEL knows how to present great records. Enough said. Click the player above to hear it.

SCOTTSO's Wisdom Reveals Indie

His doors of perception are wide open. Enlighten yourself. Things From Indie.
Take a trip into the realm of independent artists.
"The man who comes back through the Door in the Wall will never be quite the same as the man who went out. He will be wiser but less sure, happier but less self-satisfied, humbler in acknowledging his ignorance yet better equipped to understand the relationship of words to things, of systematic reasoning to the unfathomable mystery which it tries, forever vainly, to comprehend."
― Aldous Huxley, The Doors of Perception

Melissa Mixes Heady Concoction

KLW Engineer Ed "Fitz" Fitzgerald (L) and your lovely little host, Mel celebrating the Fourth at the KILLERWATT's transmitter site, Signal Hill, Brooklyn. KLW's AM antenna (R) adding electromagnetic fireworks to NYC's airwaves.

KILLERWATT Engineer Ed "Fitz" Fitzgerald has no compunctions about showing the world the source of his radio expertise. Every Fourth of July, Fitz is the life of our cookout at the foot of KLW's radio tower. Electromagnetic radiation, hot dogs, plus a singular potpourri of substances: effluvium from the Gowanus Canal mingles with psychedelic hallucinogens -- don't forget plain-old booze -- and the music.... A heady concoction! Listen to Mixtape MANIA, click the player above!
